Lebanon,

She is gazing vacantly at something outside the picture frame. Her idle posture and blank stare bears the weight of the passage of time. Stuck in a liminal space in which body and mind are trapped, between the forced respite of healing and the anticipated progression to chaos.

She is still, but everything around her is in motion.

Chaos.

History repeats itself

The resistance remains

The artwork highlights the importance of women in mending the tears in the societal fabric of Lebanese life

the kitchen acts as the stage where events in Lebanon are played out, people’s fates are sealed and political plots are cooked up.

The work connects major issues in Lebanon to one root cause: colonialism

The political system and traditions are all constructs of the colonial empire, and can be traced back to the colonial period. The legacy of the colonial period can be seen in contemporary Lebanese & Middle eastern politics.

The colonial strategy and technique to assert control and perpetuate power used by the French during their mandate rule of Lebanon was “divide & rule”. The divisions that we've come to identify with today are colonial constructs of identity, somewhere along the way we've adopted those identities and have been using them against each other which is an old divide and conquer trick of colonists.

While Successive corrupt governments, bad leadership and incompetence are to blame, the chief culprits remain colonialism, neo-colonialism and an ongoing western imperialism

بالأمس أو قسموه اليوم واحتفلوا"

هنا لبنان,

الفتاه في اللوحه تبدو و كأنها تحدق في شيء خارج إطار الصورة. وضعيتها ونظرتها تحملان ثقل مرور الوقت. عالقة في مساحة حدودية، بين فترة الراحة للشفاء والتقدم المتوقع نحو الفوضى.

هي ساكنة، لكن كل شيء حولها في حركة.

فوضى.

التاريخ يعيد نفسه

يسلط العمل الضوء على أهمية المرأة في إصلاح التمزقات في النسيج المجتمعي في الحياة اللبنانية

يمثل المطبخ المسرح حيث يتم فيه طبخ الأحداث في لبنان، ويتم تحديد مصائر الناس وتحضير المؤامرات السياسية.

يربط العمل القضايا الرئيسية في لبنان بجذر واحد: الاستعمار

النظام والتقاليد السياسيه هي من صنع الإمبراطورية الاستعمارية، ويمكن إرجاعها إلى الفترة الاستعمارية. يمكن رؤية إرث الفترة الاستعمارية في السياسة اللبنانية والشرق الأوسطية المعاصرة.

كانت الاستراتيجية والتقنية الاستعمارية لتأكيد السيطرة وإدامة السلطة التي استخدمها الفرنسيون خلال حكمهم الانتدابي للبنان هي "فرق تسد".   الانقسامات التي تعرَفنا اليوم هي تصورات استعمارية للهوية، وفي وقت ما تبنينا هذه الهويات واستخدمناها ضد بعضنا البعض، وهي خدعة قديمة من حيل المستعمرين القائمة على مبدأ "فرق تسد".

في حين أن الحكومات الفاسدة المتعاقبة والقيادة السيئة وعدم الكفاءة هي مسؤولة عن الفساد، و لكن الاستعمار والإمبريالية الغربية المستمرة هم الأساس،
